BRN: Royal Regalia Building

Jalan Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien, Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei
Sun-Thu: 9.00am - 5.00pm
Fri: 9.00am - 11.30am, 2.30pm - 5.00pm
Sat: 9.45am - 5.00pm

Situated at the heart of the capital city, the Royal Regalia Building, paradoxically with its rather unassuming exterior design, houses a vast collection of articles belonging to the Sultanate. It was officially opened to the public on 30 September 1992.

Be delighted to know that entry to the building is free of charge.

You need to take off your footwear before entering the building.

The entrance hall is the only place where you can snap some pictures. You need to leave all your bags and handphones in the lockers should you wish to enter the museum that chronicles the live of the current ruler, Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, as well as showcases all sorts of interesting artifacts.

Here's the huge Royal Chariot, known as the 'Gold-Leafed Winged Chariot'.

The Royal Chariot was used to carry the Sultan during the Silver Jubilee in 1992.

Apart from the lavish Royal Chariot, the semi-circular entrance hall also displays some other items.

That's a decorative cannon to commemorate the Sultan's 60th birthday in 2006.

I did enjoy the sight of the ceremonial umbrellas. :D

I wonder how many weapons and shields are there in the entire building?

Before leaving the building, you may want to drop by the small gift shop.

One of the most interesting things to see is the life-sized replica of the 1992 Silver Jubilee with pictures of the crowd all over the hall. I believe it'll be replaced with that of the 2017 Golden Jubilee sooner or later.
