TWN: Tianxiang

Sioulin Township, Hualien, Taiwan

Originally known as Tapido, which means 'sugar cane' in the language used by the aboriginal Truku tribe, Tianxiang is a small village that serves as a resting area for many visitors. It was renamed to honour the Song Dynasty hero who resisted Kublai Khan and subsequently executed after four years of imprisonment.

There's a statue of the hero at the park in the village, but my BFF and I didn't go there due to time constraints.

An alternative way to spell: Tien-Hsiang

Before going for lunch, we went to take a quick look at the visitor centre.

The two staff were too engrossed in something that they didn't have a glance at us.

Anyone has the hobby of collecting and preserving insects?
There's a luxurious hotel called Silks Place Taroko Hotel (5*). Had I known its existence earlier, I would've stayed there for a night. I think there's also a youth hostel  at Tianxiang.

We ended up having a simple lunch at Tianxiang Restaurant.

Bamboo rice, anyone?

Pikachu was waiting for one more dish: stir-fried boar! :D
After lunch, we went to the one and only 7-Eleven store next to the green-blue-yellow post office building.

I wanted to grab them all! :P
Can you imagine living in such a small, peaceful village?

There's a Catholic church and a Presbyterian church in Tianxiang. We decided to check the former out.

As you can see, there are quite a number of steps to climb.

"If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit." (Galatians 5:25)
Flowers are grown on the grounds of the church.

Is there a line of symmetry?

Somehow I'm imagining them to be falling stars~
Coming up next is Xiangde Temple.
